A Morrisons spokesperson told BirminghamWorld: “There was an external fire at our Edgbaston store in the early hours of Sunday morning but thankfully no one was hurt.

“The store will be closed for the remainder of this week while we carry out repairs and will reopen on Tuesday, September 13.”

More than 60 firefighters and eight crews from Ladywood, Highgate, West Bromwich, Woodgate Valley, Billesley, Hay Mills and Sethwick battled the blaze.
