Police are appealing for information following the shooting

A man was shot inside a shop in Birmingham on Friday evening (18 August).

The shooting happened inside a supermarket Holyhead Road, close to West Bromwich Albion’s Hawthorns stadium. A man has been taken to hospital following the incident. Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

West Midlands Police are now trying to locate the shooter.

A statement from the force, read: “We are investigating after a man was shot while in a shop in Holyhead Road, Birmingham, at just after 10.30pm yesterday.

“The man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with injuries which are fortunately not believed to be life-threatening. We’re carrying out CCTV and other enquiries in the area to identify who was responsible, and establish why this happened.

“We’ve also stepped up reassurance patrols in the area.
