He joked about the note being ‘breaking’ news, after sharing a series of tweets tagging Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his loyal Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries offering his help.

Almost 15,000 Twitter users liked Joe’s fake resignation letter, with many admitting they had been tricked into believing it was written by Nadine until they spotted his jokes about the cost of a bottle opener.

The comedian followed-up, saying: “@NadineDorries put a word in for me hunni xoxox”

The Birmingham-based comedian from Hall Green then penned a fake resignation letter on behalf of Nadine, claiming to have ‘deep sadness’ about things ‘not working’.

Posted on Twitter this morning, Joe’s fake letter read: “It is with deep sadness that I have reached the conclusion this is not working. I have made honest efforts to resolve the difficulties but it has become clear this morning that I am unable to proceed further.

“I would like to thank you for purchasing the PoptheTop automatic bottle opener for me last week. I was very grateful for this and for many things you have done for me, but I believe you have not purchased the correct bottle opener. I was looking to open a bottle of ‘I Heart Pinot Grigio’ I got from Tesco last night and discovered the PoptheTop bottle opener is actually only designed to open traditional beer bottles or Coca Cola or J20 apple and mango.

“It has been the honour of my life working in your government. I still believe and stand by you. But I would like you to reconsider and maybe purchase the Cuisinart CW050U Electric Wine Opener which is £50 in John Lewis and has a three year guarantee and free delivery, or Le Creuset LM250 Lever Corkscrew but that is £95 and looks confusing to use.

“Please replace the PoptheTop automatic bottle opener which doesn’t even work on the Grolsch bottles which have the metal clasp.”

Thousands of Twitter users were left in hysterics after reading the amusing letter, with one writing: “Never change, Joe”

Another said: “I believed this…. I was so excited… and then I actually read it 🤣”

“Love it! Just wonderful,” a third commented.

A fourth added: “Brilliant hahaha 🤣”

Having remained loyal to the Prime Minister despite over 50 members of Government quitting, Nadine has been mocked in a series of memes and tweets in the past few days.

The Culture Secretary denied that she would tell Boris to quit, when asked by reporters while walking into Downing Street yesterday afternoon (6 July).

The Prime Minister is set to address the nation later on today.
