West Midlands school makes urgent plea to save teacher diagnosed with aggressive blood cancer
Mrs Saurabhi Bhave has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
A West Midlands school has made an urgent plea to save a teacher following her blood cancer diagnosis.
Mrs Saurabhi Bhave , a teacher at St. John's Primary School and Nursery, Kenilworth, has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) - a fast-growing, aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
The cancer sees bone marrow produce too many abnormal blood cells, preventing the body from making enough healthy ones to function properly.

It can cause symptoms of extreme tiredness, weakness, frequent infections, fever, easy bruising or bleeding, pale skin, breathlessness, weight loss and night sweats, which can develop over a matter of weeks.
The disease can progress quickly and usually needs urgent treatment - which is why St. John’s Primary is now appealing for urgent help to find a stem cell donor who can save her.
A post on social media said: “We need your help. You could be the match. You could be her lifesaver. We are hosting a ‘Swab for Saurabhi’ donor registration event. Registration is just a quick, easy cheek swab. It takes less than 10 minutes, but it could save a life.”
Anyone willing to register, and is of good health, aged between 16 and 55 is urged to visit the school on Saturday, November 21 between 10am - 3pm.
“The St. John’s community stands with Mrs. Bhave. Please stand with us. Let’s find her hero,” the post added.
