Cadbury has unveiled a new recipe to celebrate World Falafel Day.

International Falafel Day was celebrated around the world on Monday, June 12, and Cadbury shared a video on its social media accounts showing a unique recipe which got chocolate fans talking. In the video, a woman presenter gives viewers a heads up that the recipe may not be one they are expecting from the company set up in Bournville over a 100 years ago, saying: “I know what you’re thinking, but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.”

The short TikTok clip shows the woman mixing falafels with Cadbury hot chocolate in a blender. They are then mixed with chocolate powder, which the woman says ‘makes it taste like a truffel’. It’s then presented on a plate with strawberries and cream, and to be fair, does look delicious.

Posting the clip on social media, Cadbury, which is of course is based in Bournville, wrote: “Calling all food lovers! Celebrate World Falafel Day in style with a twist: Chocolate Falafel made with Cadbury Hot Chocolate Who’s trying this?”

Reacting on social media, not everyone was impressed with the new recipe. One Facebook user commented: “No thanks. Don’t mess with my Cadbury chocolate.”

Although another Cadbury fan responded on TikTok: “Never thought of this but looks amazing.” Another said: “Need to try this.”

One chocolate lover wrote in Instagram: “Chocolate & Falafel sounds like the strangest combination! I bet it’s nice though.”
