Birmingham weather warning issued ahead of Christmas Day by Met Office

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning across much of the midlands for Thursday (December 21).

The yellow weather warning for wind is in place from parts of north Birmingham and Walsall up to Scotland. Wind gusts of up to 45mph are forecast for parts of the region on Thursday with the strongest gusts forecast for around 6pm.

The Met Office says it will be windy with a risk of severe gales on Thursday. On Tuesday (December 19) it will be a damp start with some showery rain that's set to subside towards the afternoon.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday in Birmingham:

Staying changeable and often cloudy with rain or showers at times. Windy with a risk of severe gales on Thursday. Mild and frost free with temperatures remaining above average.
