As we look forward to Christmas in Birmingham, there is one question at the back of everyone’s mind - will it snow this year? 

The fabled “White Christmas” is something that almost everyone wishes for - but, unfortunately, it rarely happens in the UK. The last time we saw a White Christmas in Birmingham was 2010. This was when snow was widespread across the UK. The 2010 White Christmas was reported as extremely unusual. It was the coldest Christmas ever recorded in the UK.

The winter caused havoc for all across Birmingham with disruption across the region, affecting everything from transport to childcare, many schools were also forced to close. Before this disruptive winter, the UK hadn’t seen widespread snow like this since 1993.

Weather forecast for Christmas Day 2023 in Birmingham & latest odds

Once again, it seems very unlikely that we will have a white Christmas this year.

The BBC weather forecast for Christmas Day in Birmingham is currently predicting temperatures of around 6 and 7 degrees celsius with lows of 3 degrees and sunny intervals and a gentle breeze on the big day.

The current Met Office forecast goes up to December 24. It forecasts a cloudy day with sunny intervals on Christmas Eve, with temperatures of around 5 and 6 degrees celsius. So it will be chilly, but no snow is forecast in the West Midlands as it stands.

According to the latest betting odds, the chances of a white Christmas are also slim. OLBG have profiled the latest betting odds and statistics surrounding the chances of a White Christmas taking place in 2023 - and there’s currently a 14.29% chance of snow in Birmingham, so it's not looking particularly promising at this moment in time.

According to the odds, Edinburgh and Glasgow are the most likely UK destinations to see snow at Christmas (33.33%), with a 25% chance of snow in Leeds and 22.22% chance of snow in Belfast.

The latest odds from Betting.com give Birmingham an outside chance of snow on Christmas Day at 7/1. The Met Office says it's more likely we will see snow across the UK sometime between January and March.
