Recently, we’ve had a look at the famous faces - actors, musicians and even politicians - who were raised in and around Birmingham. Now, we’ve decided to take a look at the famous celebrities who grew up in Aston.
Many famous people grew up in the Birmingham district which is steeped in history. The neighbourhood has strong links to heavy metal and is of course the home to one of England’s top football club’s Aston Villa. The inner-city area is just a short distance from the prestigious Aston University - which has been ranked in the top 100 universities in the world for Business Administration subjects.
The ward is also home to the beautiful Aston Hall, which has watched proudly over Birmingham for more than 400 years. The hall is also one of the last great houses built in the Jacobean style.
A number of writers, sportspeople, and actors as well as other famous faces all come from the area. With this in mind, we’ve taken a look at the most famous people who are from Aston, including those who were born in the areas, as well as those who have lived there at some point during their lifetime.

1. Ozzy Osbourne
The Prince of Darkness was born in Marston Green, Solihull but was raised in Aston. His family lived in a small two-bedroom home at 14 Lodge Road. Fans of the Black Sabbath front-man have even previously been allowed to rent out the house for a night. Photo: Bryn Lennon

2. Geezer Butler. Estimated net worth - £58.1 million
Ozzy’s band mate and the Black Sabbath bassist and lyricist was raised in a large Anglo-Irish family in Aston. He’s also a huge Villa fan

3. Tommy Iommi
The Black Sabbath guitarist was born in Handsworth, but their family home was in the Park Lane area of Aston and also housed a shop which was a popular meeting place in the neighbourhood. So, was heavy metal born in Aston?

4. Trevor Burton
Aston-born Burton is a guitarist and is a founding member of The Move. They scored nine top 20 UK singles in five years. Hit singles during Burton’s tenure in the group included ‘I Can Hear the Grass Grow’ ‘Flowers in the Rain’ and ‘Fire Brigade’
