The research by Fair4All Finance, the not-for-profit financial inclusion organisation, reveals 42%of adults in the West Midlands are living in financially vulnerable circumstances.
In the findings, the West Midlands ranked third nationally for the vulnerability of its residents, with Sandwell being ranked in the top five local authorities nationally for financial vulnerability.
Birmingham also appeared in the list, with the data finding a 31 per cent rise in the financial vulnerability of its residents in the last two years, making it one of the authorities in the West Midlands to experience a sharp spike.
Sandwell is in the top 5 local authorities nationally, with 68% of residents living in vulnerable circumstances putting it in 3rd place nationally, while Sandwell 68%), Stoke-on-Trent (56%) and Birmingham (53%) are the top three local authorities with the highest proportion of financially vulnerable residents in the West Midlands
