Birmingham's 13 'most struggling areas' with high poverty levels as we speak to locals about biggest issues

Birmingham unfortunately has some of the most deprived constituencies in the country

Hodge Hill is the most deprived constituency in Birmingham, followed by Ladywood and Erdington. All three areas have IMD scores that would rank them in the top 10% most deprived neighbourhoods nationally.

We’ve also compiled a list of the neighbourhoods in Birmingham which were named the most income-deprived, based on the latest statistics published by the Office for National Statistics.

These are the areas which could be far less able to afford the rocketing cost of food and bills due to low earnings in wages and or benefit payments.

We also paid a visit to Hodge Hill in Birmingham - asking local residents to share their thoughts on the city's roughest areas.

The Daily Mail recently published an exclusive article that Hodge Hill is “so desperately poor that even the beggars have moved out to find leafier streets”.

From neighbourhoods with high poverty levels to places where safety is a concern, the people here today give their personal views on where they feel uneasy and why. You can see our visit the the suburb in the video above.
