It’s 27 years since Harborne Street Carnival began with thousands joining the summer celebrations each year.

The popular Birmingham event is the second largest street carnival in the UK - after Notting Hill and is renowned for its community spirit and family friendly fun activities.

This year, like previous years, it will be supported by Heart Research UK Midlands  with all profits from the carnival supporting the charity’s pioneering medical research and community projects - and it’s sponsored by the National Lottery Fund.

When is Harborne Carnival taking place in 2024?

The Harborne Carnival is set to return to the streets of Birmingham on Sunday 23rd June 2024.

The event will feature a host of entertainment spanning the whole length of Harborne High Street, including live music, arts and crafts, children’s activities, fairground rides, community and charity stalls, and much more. Alongside the entertainment, over 30 local charities will be fundraising for activities in the local community. There will also be joint work with schools to raise awareness of health issues and to encourage participation in the Carnival.

Paul Burgess MBE, Harborne Carnival Chair, said: “Every year the Harborne Carnival Association reviews the feedback it has got from attendees and sponsors of the previous year’s Carnival. The feedback for 2023 was the best ever, with everybody looking forward to 2024. The Carnival is not a City Council event, so we fundraise to manage its costs. We are very grateful for the support from Heart Research UK and the National Lottery Community Fund. If you would like to participate or volunteer, please contact us.”

John Lloyd, Regional Executive for Heart Research UK Midlands, said: “We are delighted by the response and the support from the local community around Harborne, and the Carnival is the icing on the cake. It is a fantastic day out with thousands of families having a great time, and something Heart Research Midlands is very proud to be part of for the third year running.”
