One of the Birmingham neighbourhoods, which received a special mention in the Sunday Times Best Places to Live list in 2022, truly embodies diversity in their community activities. Kings Heath, one of the trendy neighbourhoods south of the city, recently hosted its own Pride, an open air Eid celebration for the first time, and also a demonstration seeking better and safer streets. The community also held a Stand Up to Racism weekender after an attack on an elderly man earlier in the year.
Apart from taking a stand on serious issued, the community also knows how to keep things light with markets and live music. From artisan markets to farmers’ markets to live gigs, there’s a lot that the place can offer residents and visitors. Located close to Moseley, it’s also well-connected to the rest of the city.

1. York Road shops and market

2. Hare & Hounds for live music

3. Plant N Plate for vegan food
Plant N Plate on the High Street is a great vegan option in the neighbourhood. They are open 10-6 (Tue to Sat) & 10-4 (Sunday). They were a finalist at the Midlands Food and Drink Hospitality awards in 2023.
4. Take a walk in Kings Heath Park
