Christmas at Warwick Castle: Festive wonderland offers magical Harry Potter-like experience

Christmas at Warwick Castle is a festive treat for fans who love twinkling lights and historic tours all rolled into one.
Warwick Castle is one of the region’s top tourist attractions, but its festive offerings make it a veritable national must-visit spot.
The heritage-rich castle dates back to medieval times and it continues to thrill in the 21st century.
In addition to events such as themed dining and history tours occurring all year round, its festive roster is filled with fabulous entertainment.
We hunkered down for an overnight stay in the Woodland Lodge and took a walk around the castle grounds.
From the moment you step foot into the lodge, you know you’re in for a special treat.
A giant neighing horse stands loud and proud in the foyer.
It is so life-like, it will take a few seconds to sink in it’s not actually real; magnificent mechanical beauty aside, it is the ‘live’ paintings that took my breath away.
Portraits of olde world characters that are hanging overhead, appear to make conversation, and you’d be forgiven if you actually engaged in talking with them (I did before I forgot they’re not real).
And that is the beauty of Warwick Castle - it is a place where you can suspend belief and dive straight into Christmas magic.
This year sees a spectacular new light trail.
Add to the mix an open-air ice skating rink, a festive food and drink market, plus a tour of the castle, and Warwick Castle is one of the top festive treats that I enjoyed.
As part of the Santa Sleepover where you an stay at either the Castle Hotel or Woodland Lodges, you will be treated to a pantomime, ‘Elf Wake-Up Call’ plus a session of storytime with the big man himself, Santa.
