Celine Dion was due to perform at the Utilita Arena on 25 and 26 May 2022, but these shows have been cancelled and rearranged.

This is the second time that the dates have been rescheduled, with the original dates being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Why were the dates cancelled?

The two dates in Birmingham are two of many on Celine’s European leg of her Courage World Tour that have been cancelled.

They have been cancelled on this occasion due to Celine’s poor health.

A statement on her official website outlines why the tour dates in Europe have been rescheduled, citing the reason as Celine recently being treated for severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing, and her recovery is taking longer than she hoped.

When are the new dates?

All shows on the European leg of the tour have been given a rearranged date.

The two shows in Birmingham will now take place on 26 and 27 March 2023.

What has Celine Dion said about the cancelled tour dates?

In a statement, the singer-songwriter apologised for having to push back the tour dates once again, but reassured fans that she needed to be in “top shape” whilst on stage.

She said: “I’m so sorry we have to change our tour plans for Europe one more time; first we had to move the shows because of the pandemic, now it’s my health issues causing us to postpone the shows.”

Celine also gave an update to fans on how her recovery is going, saying that they deserve 100% when coming to watch one of her shows.

She added: “I am doing a little bit better…but I’m still experiencing some spasms.  I need to be in top shape when I’m on stage.

“I honestly can’t wait, but I’m just not there yet… I’m doing my very best to get back to the level that I need to be so that I can give 100% at my shows because that’s what you deserve.”
