The highly-anticipated Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market is now open. However, this raises a question - what is the best way to get there?

After two years where Christmas Markets in the UK have been marred by the Covid-19 pandemic, people will be excited to enjoy a (mostly) pandemic-free Christmas in 2022. With a variety of Christmassy goods on offer, it won’t be something to overlook.

The Birmingham Christmas Markets opened on November 3 and will close on December 23. With plenty of authentic German cuisine on offer, such as bratwursts and schnitzels, there’s an array of food items to tantalise your tastebuds with.

You’ll be able to get your hands on a selection of seasonal trinkets and gifts, too. Not only this, but plenty of alcoholic beverages will be on sale too, such as gluhwein and German wheat beer.

However, if you’re driving, you may want to give this part of the market a swerve! If you’d like to head down to them, here’s everything that you’ll need to know about getting there.

At 6 Coventry Street Car Park, you can leave your vehicle for two hours, which will cost you £1.60. Additionally, it’s only an approximate 15 minute walk away from the markets.

Another good option is Shaw’s Passage Car Park. While it’ll cost you a bit more at £2.50 for two hours, it’s only an 11 minute walk away from Birmingham Christmas Markets.

There is also the multi-storey High Street Car Park, which will cost £2.90 for two hours. It has two key advantages - first of all, it’s only five minutes away from the markets. As well as this, it has 1,073 spaces, so there will be less competition for parking spots.

How to get to Birmingham Christmas Markets by train or bus

Birmingham Christmas Market organisers have encouraged people to arrive at the markets using public transport, as Birmingham City Centre is set to be “extremely busy” during the Christmas period. Thankfully, transport links to Birmingham are in no shortage.
