The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham are in full swing, and fans at one venue are set for a taste of live music to accompany the live sport.

Singer Becky Hill will be performing ahead of play at the beach volleyball this week.

Becky Hill is set to perform before the start of the Beach Volleyball action at Smithfield on Wednesday, 3 August.

She is due to perform at the 2.30pm session of Beach Volleyball.

The chart-topping singer is one of many performers taking part in the Birmingham 2022 Festival at the Smithfield site – home to the Beach Volleyball and the 3x3 Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball.

The venue for the Beach Volleyball at the 2022 Commonwealth Games is Smithfield. Located at the former Smithfield Market, the site has been transformed into a temporary Games venue and will be home to Beach Volleyball, 3x3 Basketball, 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball and the starting point for the Marathon from 28 July to 8 August.

Who can watch Becky Hill?

The Becky Hill performance will be available exclusively to those with tickets to the Beach Volleyball on 3 August.

Tickets for the Beach Volleyball are still available and can be purchased through the official website of the Commonwealth Games.

What else is planned at Smithfield this summer?

One of two major Festival sites hosted in Birmingham’s city centre – Smithfield and Victoria Square – the Smithfield site is hosting a festival of festivals with a different cultural partner taking to the specially commissioned three-sided Beacon Stage every single day, as well as DJ sets and live performances to accompany the Games.

Across August, the festival fun will include Swingamajig, featuring the sounds and styles of the 1920s, DJs from BBC Asian Network, Selextorhood, who champion and empower women and gender minority DJs, MADE Festival, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul, and Break Mission and Eric Scutaro.

They will all take turns to take over Smithfield’s Beacon Stage, entertaining the thousands of people expected to flock to the Festival Site. There will also be a closing dance party on 7 August – a special party for the final day of the Festival Site.

Who is Becky Hill?

Becky Hill is a singer originally from Bewdley, Worcestershire. The 28-year-old rose to prominence through the TV show ‘The Voice’ and was mentored by Jessie J.

In 2019, she released a compilation album called ‘Get To Know’

In 2021 she released her debut album ‘Only Honest on the Weekend’ and she has performed at venues and festivals around the UK.

She most recently performed at Wembley Stadium before the 2022 Women’s European Championship Final between England and Germany.
