Fans of the Asian pop culture in the West Midlands. are in for a treat as AnimeCon UK comes to Birmingham

AnimeCon UK is returning to Birmingham’s NEC this year.

The event is an enormous international Anime, Manga, and K-pop Festival. It will showcase the best of Asian pop culture in the UK’s largest exhibition venue – The NEC.

For those wondering exactly what an AnimeCon is - it is an event a primarily focused on anime (hand-drawn and computer-generated animation originating from Japan), manga - a style of Japanese comic books - and other Japanese culture.

It brings together the communities of anime, manga, artists, Pro cosplayers, K-Pop and J-Pop fanatics all together for three days of unique exhibits, amazing shopping, parties, exclusive screenings, extensive panels, and appearances by some of the world’s biggest creators.

When is it on?

The event will take place at the NEC from Saturday, June 15 - Sunday, June 16. So, get ready with your craziest costumes because cosplay is going to be one of the biggest features as well as karaoke.

What’s on at Animecon?

There will be a cosplay catwalk, silent disco, a shopping alley, panels and talks and much more.

Anime voice actors including Josey Montana McCoy, Jamie Marchi, Natalie Van Sistine and Megan Shipman will also be making an appearance at the weekend event.

How to get tickets

A two-day VIP pass for the weekend event costs £55. This ticket gives you access to both show days and includes a collectible laminate, express entry, access to the VIP lounge, an AnimeCon bag and express panels and main stage access, as well as 20% of merchandise.

A two-day pass for both shows costs £39.60, with a single day pass costing £26.50.
