Yerson Mosquera injury report surfaces following scan for Wolves defender before Liverpool clash
Wolves have been nervously awaiting the results of Mosquera’s knee scan after the centre-back was forced off on a stretcher late on in the 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old started all five of Wolves’ opening Premier League fixtures and impressed in most, especially at Villa Park as he was handed an 8/10 rating for an imperious display. Wanderers crumbled after Mosquera left the field and there are fears they may have to make do without him for a long period.

Hide AdIt was worrying seeing the awkward manner in which the defender’s knee was jarred when fighting for the ball with Villa attacker Morgan Rogers. As is the bravery of Mosquera, he was determined to win back possession for his side but came out of the challenge with an unfortunate injury.
After the match, Gary O’Neil confirmed Wolves were fearing the worst. “We’ve got no real information, it just doesn’t look good for us at the moment. It was his knee. We’re hoping for the best with the scan results in the next few days,” O’Neil said in the press conference.
Now, several days on, two Colombian journalists - Edward Acero and Juan Felipe Cadavid - have reported that Mosquera has suffered an injury to the medial collateral ligament (MCL). It’s stated that fears remain that there may also be damage to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), though that is unconfirmed.
If it’s a severe MCL tear, Mosquera is likely to spend up to two months on the sidelines. But if there’s also an injury to the ACL, it could be a season-ending problem for the Wolves man. Regardless, Mosquera will miss the clash with Liverpool on Saturday and probably several more after that. He’ll be a big miss.
