Wolverhampton Wanderers take on Liverpool on Tuesday evening in an FA Cup Third Round replay at Molineux. Julen Lopetegui’s side will be particularly eager to get through as they felt hard done by in the original tie at Anfield - when Toti Gomes’ late winner was chalked off by a controversial VAR check.

Supporters and pundits alike were furious when Gomes’ goal was ruled out for offside, especially when it became apparent that there was no conclusive footage available to allow for an overturned decision. Lopetegui reportedly held a 90-minute meeting with Howard Webb afterward, as was his passion toward the incident.

Wolves suffered yet more heartache as they were defeated by Nottingham Forest on penalties in the Carabao Cup quarter final, but Wanderers supporters were treated to a first Premier League victory since Boxing Day on Saturday. Daniel Podence’s clever second half strike handed Wolves a vital win over West Ham United in a relegation six-pointer, lifting his side out of the bottom three and into 16th.

The attention now turns to a different competition yet again, though, as Wanderers welcome Liverpool to Molineux. Lopetegui and his men face them at a decent time as the Reds were thrashed 3-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion on the weekend, as two goals from Solly March and one from Danny Welbeck sealed the deal for the Seagulls.

Jurgen Klopp will have been furious with how that one went, as Liverpool are now 10 points off the top four and a whopping 19 away from Arsenal at the summit of the table. The German head coach will be hoping for a much better showing on Tuesday. As that clash approaches, here is a look at the latest injury news for both teams.

What is the injury news for Wolves vs Liverpool in the FA Cup?

Lopetegui is confident that he will have former Chelsea striker Diego Costa fit and ready to go after he sustained a knock at Aston Villa two weeks ago, but he does remain a ‘wait and see’ as things stand. Pedro Neto (ankle) could be back in February, whereas Chiquinho (knee) and Sasa Kalajdzic are still expected to miss the rest of the campaign.

Boubacar Traore, who had just started to break through into the starting XI before injuring his groin a fortnight ago, is still sidelined. Speaking before the Villa game, Lopetegui said: “We have an injury with Bouba Traore for, I think, one or two months.” Wolves are currently around 15 days into that time period, so Traore could be back in February or March.

Liverpool are still without first-team quintet Luis Diaz (knee), Virgil van Dijk (thigh), Arthur Melo (also thigh), Diogo Jota (calf) and Roberto Firmino (lower leg), but Darwin Nuñez could make a return after missing the trip to Brighton. The Reds’ summer signing has been suffering from a tight hamstring and might feature, but he remains a major doubt.

Experienced midfielder James Milner was back on the bench for Klopp’s side on the weekend, so he is no longer of concern. Meanwhile, young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who scored in the Boxing Day win at Aston Villa, has returned to training after a hip problem and he will be assessed ahead of Tuesday night.

Ruled out: Neto, Chiquinho, Kalajdzic, B. Traore (WOL); Diaz, van Dijk, Arthur, Jota, Firmino (LIV).

Doubts: D. Costa (WOL); Nuñez, Bajcetic (LIV).
