Wolves host Fulham at Molineux in the Premier League on Saturday, March 9.

Gary O’Neil’s side are on the search for a response after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James Park at the weekend. The result left them 10th in the league standings and the Magpies overtook them in the table.

Fulham are two places below Wolves with three points separating them though only a three-goal win for the Cottagers would be enough for them to overtake them. Marco Silva’s side inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend with Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz on target before former Wolves man Adama Traore scored in stoppage time.

The last time these two sides met was at Craven Cottage in November, resulting in a 3-2 win for the West London side. Willian scored a 94th minute penalty after Wolves had fought back twice through Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan after Alex Iwobi and Willian had given them the lead.

In the build-up to Saturday’s match, here’s the latest injury news prior to both manager’s pre-match press conference. Gary O’Neil and Marco Silva should share more light on any players that are questionable for the weekend.

Wolves team news

Jose Sa and Pedro Neto were taken off during the defeat up in Newcastle. Neto made a hamstring complaint whilst Sa was nursing a thigh problem. Both players could return at the weekend but they will have to come through training first.

‘Jose has a sore quad and they think he will be fine for next weekend,” said O’Neil.

“I don’t know if it was his quad that collided with the post, but he’s got some issue, so it may have been from that situation, but he’s confident he’ll be ok for next weekend.

‘Pedro has a tight hamstring and I don’t think there’s any injury there, it’s just tight. It was precautionary really.’

Hwang Hee-Chan however will be out for six weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained against Brighton in the FA Cup. His injury is a major blow given the lack of Wolves’ attacking options.

Matheus Cunha has been out since early February and he has a similar timeframe of six weeks. Cunha has a hamstring injury and his 18 goal contributions are sorely missed.

Joao Gomes wasn’t in the match-day squad against Newcastle either. He was potentially going to be a substitute but it was decided not to risk him.

Out: Hwang Hee-Chan. Matheus Cunha. Doubtful: Joao Gomes, Jose Sa and Pedro Neto.

Fulham team news

Fulham’s injury list isn’t too long with just one player missing. Raul Jimenez is out for at least a month after sustaining a hamstring injury at the end of January.

Joao Palhinha is to return to the fold after serving a one-match ban. Players who accumulate 10 yellow cards in a season are given a two-match suspension and Palhinha has served that now.

Out: Raul Jimenez.
