Daniel Podence ‘wishes’ to leave Wolves for Olympiakos

It seems that Daniel Podence’s time at Wolves could soon reach its end. According to a report from Greek outlet Red Planet on their official X (formerly Twitter), Olympiakos are looking to snap up the Portuguese international on a permanent basis.

Podence has not travelled with the rest of the squad for their training camp in the USA before the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season. However, this is due to him suffering a calf strain [via Liam Keen on X] rather than him being part of an ongoing transfer move.

Last season, Olympiakos made history when they became the first Greek club to win a major European trophy, defeating Fiorentina in the final of the Europa Conference League. They defeated one of Wolves’ bitterest rivals, Aston Villa, on their way to the trophy, as they beat Unai Emery’s men by an aggregate score of 6-2 over two legs.

Podence was part of the history-making Olympiakos team last season, as he played for them on a season-long loan deal from Wolves - he scored seven goals and notched up five assists over the course of 22 games in the Greek Super League. He also scored three Europa League goals and notched up an impressive four assists in eight games in the Europa Conference League.

Cheltenham Town take Kam Kandola in on trial

Wolves youngster Kam Kandola has joined Cheltenham Town in League Two for a trial period, according to a report from Talking Wolves on X. He featured in a friendly game at the weekend, when the Robins were beaten 5-1 by Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle. In addition to this, the 20-year-old is ‘expected’ to feature in an upcoming friendly game against Bristol City.

While Cheltenham’s interest in the player seems apparent, it is unclear if they want to take him on board on a permanent basis or on a loan as things stand.

Last season, Cheltenham were relegated from League One after they finished 21st in the table with a total of 46 points. As such, they will compete in League Two next season for the first time since 2021. They struggled at the back last year, shipping a total of 65 goals in 46 league games - they will be hoping that the addition of Kandola will shore up their leaky backline.
