Wolverhampton Wanderers face a quick turnaround from the 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa as they take on Burnley in the Premier League this Tuesday night.
From facing UEFA Champions League hopefuls to relegation battlers, the likelihood of winning increases but nothing is certain when fixture congestion and injury drama play their part. Burnley are also at a point of desperation for victories, with four points and inferior goal difference currently the gap to safety.
The Clarets displayed immense fight at the weekend as Vincent Kompany's men, despite being reduced to 10, battled for a 2-2 draw away at Chelsea. Wolves need to expect similar passion this midweek and O'Neil will guard his players against complacency to counteract that.
Rotation would be desirable given the energy expensed at Villa Park just three days ago but injuries to key players and a lack of squad depth make that nearly impossible. There's a boost in attack, though, with Matheus Cunha expected back in the matchday squad.
But will the Brazilian start? And who else will play? Here's our predicted lineup for the Old Gold's trip to Turf Moor.
1. GK - Jose Sa
Sa will be disappointed to have conceded nine goals in his last four appearances but a trip away to relegation fighters is a decent opportunity to put that right.
2. RWB - Nelson Semedo
Semedo has been excellent this campaign, stepping up after a difficult end to last season. His positioning has improved and he’s a considerable threat going forward.
3. CB - Max Kilman
The skipper had a poor game at Villa, as did much of the Wolves back line. Kilman is great at lifting spirits, though, and will have that task midweek.
4. CB - Santiago Bueno
Bueno will continue to start with Craig Dawson unlikely to play from the off. The veteran defender is nearly ready but this game comes too soon, O’Neil admitted.
