Gary O'Neil's Wolves were well beaten at Villa Park as they lost 2-0 against local rivals Aston Villa in the Premier League. Wolves had the opportunity to underline their European football credentials against Unai Emery's side, but with injuries to key men piling up, they struggled to put their best foot forward.
Rayan Ait-Nouri spurned a golden chance to put the visitors ahead early in the contest and from that point onwards, Villa were dominant. Moussa Diaby put Villa ahead in the 36th minute with an effort from the edge of the box and Ezri Konsa doubled the home side's advantage in the second half with a fortunate finish from a tight angle.
Ultimately, Wolves could have no complaints about the scoreline and it's clear that O'Neil has work to do before Tuesday's trip to face Burnley. Here's our player ratings from the clash.
