Wolves handed transfer deadline for €10m Max Kilman replacement

Wolves have reportedly held transfer talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over the signing of defender Nico Elvedi.
According to Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Germany, Wolves do hold an interest in Elvedi and that initial talks have taken place. The Swiss centre-back has a release clause of €10m, but that is only valid until the end of July.

Elvedi has been with Monchengladbach for nine years after joining from FC Zurich. He has appeared over 300 times for the German outfit and has even graced the Champions League with them.
He has an immense amount of experience and has 53 caps for the Switzerland national team. Elvedi was at EURO 2024 but didn't play a single game as he sat on the bench for all five matches. Switzerland play with three centre-backs with Man City's Manuel Akanji and Newcastle United's Fabian Schar preferred to Elvedi.
Wolves are on the hunt for a replacement for Max Kilman after selling him for £40m to West Ham who are managed by former boss Julen Lopetegui. The 27-year-old was Wolves' captain last season and now there is a considerable gap in the heart of the defence which will need to be filled before their season opener against Arsenal.

Wolves will also give some of their players to Maidenhead on loan so they can get some first-team experience in the National League.
