Wolves are holding firm on one of their leading forwards from the 2023/24 campaign.

Wolves have reportedly rejected a bid from a major European club for South Korean star Hwang Hee-chan.

According to the Express & Star and Sky Sports, an offer of around £21m from Marseille has been turned down. Wolves have rebuffed their approach and aren't considering selling the forward following the big money sale of Max Kilman.

Hee-chan cost Wolves around £14m after joining from RB Leipzig and so the offer would have only represented a £7m profit. Since joining Wolves, the 66-cap South Korea international has played 94 games, scoring 22 times whilst also supplying seven goals.

Last season was his best season at Molineux, getting 12 goals and three assists in 29 Premier League matches with Gary O'Neil entrusting him to lead the line. Wolves bolstered their front line earlier this month with the arrival of Norweigan striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and will want to keep Hee-chan as they look to improve on their 14th-placed finish from last season.

The four time Austrian League winner is under contract Wolves until the summer of 2028 with the option of a further year and so there is no pressure to sell. Wolves are within the confines of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules, so it would take a sizeable fee to make them consider changing their stance.

Marseille finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season, and so they missed out on European football. They have recently been taken over by former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi to turn their fortunes around. The French club are also closing in on the signing of Man United forward Mason Greenwood after agreeing a £26.7m fee, despite receiving backlash from the mayor of Marseille.

Marseille are considered one of the biggest clubs in French football, having been the only team to win a European cup, but that success happened way back in 1993. They are nine time Ligue 1 winners but last won a league title 14 years ago with PSG having a stronghold on French football. They have former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amongst the players in their squad, as well as Jordan Amavi and Jordan Veretout who were both at Aston Villa.
