Wolves have set their sights on Jules Lopetegui once again. The Premier League side are reportedly in talks with the Spaniard again regarding their managerial position.

The Midlands outfit sacked Bruno Lage last month following their poor start to the season and were turned down by the former Sevilla man. They then turned their attentions to QPR boss Michael Beale before he opted to stay put in the Championship.

Steve Davis was subsequently handed the role until 2023. However, in this fresh turn of events, Lopetegui’s name has re-entered the running. According to a report by The Guardian, the club are quietly ‘confident’ they can strike a deal with him this time.

Wolves managerial target

Lopetegui joined previous club Sevilla in 2019 and he won the Europa League in his first year in charge. He stayed for another two years before he was dismissed earlier in this campaign.

The 56-year-old is an experienced manager and has previously had spells at Rayo Vallecano, Porto and Real Madrid. He has also managed the Spain national team in the past and guided his country to qualification for the World Cup in Russia back in 2018.

Wolves are in need of new ideas and are struggling near the foot of the table right now. They are 19th, with only Nottingham Forest below them, and are two points from safety following their defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.
