Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly preparing a double raid on the Championship just over 48 hours before the summer transfer window comes to a close.
It has been a difficult summer for Wolves boss Gary O’Neil after the financial situation at Molineux forced the sales of captain Max Kilman and winger Pedro Neto as the duo raked in around £95m in funds. O’Neil has been able to add to his squad after spending around £26m on Braga youngster Rodrigo Gomes, Brazilian wing-back Pedro Lima and Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle. Norway international Jorgen Strand Larsen was also secured on a season-long loan deal from Celta Vigo and a permanent move is set to follow next summer.

Hide AdSpeaking earlier this week about the need to add further new faces, O’Neil said: "Everyone knows the financial restrictions we have and have been there since I arrived. We have raised good funds in this window and the squad will need help. Once the window shuts it doesn't open for a good few months, when it shuts we need to be comfortable with where we are. There's a lot of work for myself, I need to get more out of the group we have. Then there's an understanding the Premier League is tough and if you sell good players it makes you weaker. We'll see if it's a break even window by the time it shuts next Friday. We have raised some good funds and hopefully we can use them well in the next few days."
With just two days left in the summer transfer window, HITC have claimed Wolves are keen to offer Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic and Luton Town midfielder Teden Mengi an immediate return to the Premier League after the duo suffered relegation into the Championship last season. O’Neil is said to be keen to bolster his defence following the loss of Kilman to Premier League rivals West Ham United and believes Mengi can offer some solidity in front of his backline. However, the latter is also said to be under consideration from other clubs in the top tier.
As well as being linked with move for Mengi and Ahmedhodzic, O’Neil is believed to be keen to secure a deal for Burnley star Luca Koleosho, who is said to be ‘unhappy’ over the Clarets decision to not negotiate possible move to Molineux. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri posted an update on X (formerly Twitter) saying: “Clarets makes it difficult for Luca Koleosho as they didn’t want to negotiate £25M offer Wolverhampton puts on the table. Player’s not happy about it and wants the move to WWFC. Sources confirmed that things should move after League Cup game against both team”
Koleosho is not the only Burnley player said to be under consideration by O’Neil after HITC suggested Wolves, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest were all preparing late moves for Clarets captain Josh Brownhill. The midfielder is reported to have ‘an uncertain future’ at Turf Moore and Burnley are said to be ‘bracing themselves for offers and in need of further sales’.
