Wolves complete £15.4m transfer of Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart

The Austrian international has bolstered Bruno Lage’s attacking options this season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart on a five-year deal, with an option for a further 12 months.

According to reports, Bruno Lage paid a fee of £15.4m for the 6ft 7in striker, who has been capped 15 times for the Austrian national team.

The 25-year-old joins Wolves after two seasons with Stuttgart, where he scored 24 goals in 60 appearances for the German club and assisted his teammates on 12 occasions.

Kalajdzic began his career in his homeland with SR Donaufeld Wien, before moving to Austrian Bundesliga side Admira Wacker.

He made his debut for Admira’s first team in 2017, going on to score 12 goals in 35 games, which led to his move to Stuttgart two years later.

“I’m really thankful and really happy to be here,” the striker told Wolves’ media team. “It was the club that wanted me the most in the end.

“In my career, at my age, it’s important to feel where the next step is and, in the end, I had the feeling Wolverhampton is the best step for my development.

“I had good talks with the coaches, and I met some players from the team. Everyone was so kind and so nice.

“I know that I won’t regret my decision because the people were all so kind, they welcomed me and I’m looking forward to playing as soon as possible.”

The 25-year-old will wear the number 18 shirt at Molineux and has outlined what he wants to achieve from his switch to the midlands.

“Everyone tells me the Premier League is the toughest league, it’s the NBA of football,” he said.

“I’m just excited to prove myself against the best because in this league the best players are playing.

“I want to develop as a player, as a person, and want to get as soon as possible to score, to show myself, and I’m really happy about it and looking forward to it.”
