Aston Villa pair Douglas Luiz and Lucas Digne are both on four yellow cards so far this season leaving the duo on the verge of a one-game suspension. Unai Emery will have that in mind ahead of upcoming fixtures after the international break.

It has been an impressive start to the new Premier League season for the Midlands outfit. They are currently sat in 5th place and are a point behind the top four.

Villa face West Ham, Luton Town, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur in their next games as they look to keep their momentum going.

As for Wolves, Mario Lemina and Nelson Semedo are also one yellow card away from being out of action for one match. Gary O’Neil’s side are positioned in 14th and are four points above the drop zone.

They drew 1-1 with Villa in their last outing. Their boss Gary O’Neil was pleased with that result in the end and said afterwards: “I thought it was a decent game, both teams were fairly evenly matched, and I felt that once we weathered the storm at the start, where Sa had to make a couple of saves, I didn’t really feel our goal was under any massive threat, so I was a little bit disappointed with the draw, especially when you go 1-0 up and we were in a good spot, controlling the opposition game-wise.

“I didn’t think we were in any danger – there was obviously a bit early, where we needed to get to grips and Sa needed to make a couple of saves. After that, second half I don’t remember Sa going much.

“We had two chances – Sasa’s lovely cross for Pedro, a big chance across the face, then Pedro’s cut back for Sasa, another big chance. I didn’t feel like our goal was under any threat when it was 11v11 and I thought we were causing Aston Villa some problems.

“We were the ones looking more likely [to score] and had decent control until the sending off. Then we were hanging on. But it was a good point against a good side.”

Elsewhere, players for other teams are also in the same boat. Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, West Ham’s Edson Alvarez, Emerson and Lucas Paqueta and Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma are walking a tightrope on four yellows.
