Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a very active summer transfer window. From defence to midfield and attack, the Wanderers have seen players leave and join – some of which have been for huge fees.
It’s been a disappointing start to the campaign, but some of the summer transfer activity may come as some consolation for supporters. With a little while left to go in the window before the deadline strikes on Deadline Day, Wolves could yet sign a handful of new players even after what we’ve seen so far.

Wolves have let five players go permanently so far in the summer transfer window, not many of which were consistent starters last season. There is also a defensive midfielder who is heavily linked with a move away on Deadline Day. A few players have also left the club on loan.
A £13 million fee has been agreed on Deadline Day for versatile defender and midfielder Leander Dendoncker, who looks set for a move to fellow Birmingham-based side Aston Villa with a medical booked in according to Fabrizio Romano. The Belgian international 27-year-old has been a key player for Wolves since signing in 2019 and his departure will likely leave quite the void.
Backup goalkeeper John Ruddy has joined Birmingham City on a free transfer having made 50 appearances since signing for the club in July 2017. The ex-Norwich man returns to the Championship where he hopes to be a first-choice once again. He started Birmingham’s first game of the campaign, keeping a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Luton Town.
Marçal is another player to see the exit door; the Brazilian left-back struggled to make a strong impact throughout his two seasons in the Premier League and he returns to native side Botafogo on a free transfer. The 33-year-old made 31 appearances for Wolves.

The centre back made 176 league appearances across six seasons but now heads to the Turkish Super Lig for a new challenge.
Leaving for £9 million, Ruben Vinagre is the fourth to leave Wolves in the summer window as he heads to Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese side snapped up the left-back using their option to buy after they loaned him last season, but they have now sent him to Everton for the campaign ahead. The Toffees themselves have an option to buy, making this one a bit of a transfer merry-go-round.

The biggest transfer fee Wolves have received this summer is for midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been signed by newly promoted side Nottingham Forest for a mouth-watering £44.5 million with add-ons included. The Englishman spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, where he impressed against Championship opposition. There was a chance he could gain some minutes at Wolves this year, but a figure that high was too good to turn down.
Perhaps the most important player of all to leave this window is former club captain Conor Coady, who heads to Merseyside club Everton on a season-long loan deal. The 29-year-old central defender has been critical to Wolves’ achievements since he signed for The Wanderers back in 2015, with the 45 appearances out of a possible 46 in the 2017/18 promotion campaign one of his greatest. Since reaching the heights of the Premier League, Coady has incredibly missed just one match and so will leave a massive void as he heads for the north west.

Goalkeeper Louie Moulden will be with National League team Solihull Moors until January.

Wonderkid Franciso Trincão, who made 28 appearances and scored two goals on loan with Wolves last season, heads back to parent club Barcelona, whereas Bruno Jordao joins Santa Clara on loan.

Who has joined Wolves so far in the summer transfer window?

As mentioned earlier, Wolves have made a number of big money signings this summer as they look to reach European football with added depth and quality in their squad.
The latest of their summer signings is target man striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who arrives at Molineux from VfB Stuttgart for £15.5 million. The Austrian centre forward, who stands at a striking 6ft 6in, netted 22 goals and notched 11 assists in 51 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart.

Hide AdPortuguese star midfielder Matheus Nunes, who was previously linked with a move to Liverpool, signs for a club record fee of around £42 million including add-ons. The 23-year-old scored three goals and contributed two assists in 33 Liga Portugal appearances last term. He is likely to transform Wolves’ midfield as he slots in alongside fan favourite Ruben Neves.
Another exciting addition is Goncalo Guedes, yet another Portuguese tricky winger who has been deemed by many as the ‘next Diogo Jota’. The 25-year-old, who can play in any of the attacking midfield positions, cost the club around £27.5m from Valencia. Guedes signs a five-year deal after netting 11 goals and contributing six assists in 36 La Liga appearances last season.
Nathan Collins, who starred in a struggling Burnley side in the second half of last season, has signed a five-year contract with The Wanderers. The versatile 21-year-old defender, who can play as a centre half or right back, joins for a fee of around £22 million after making 19 Premier League appearances for The Clarets last campaign.
The second permanent signing of the summer window is Hwang Hee-Chan, who will be a familiar name to Wolves fans as he was on loan at the club last season. Instead of heading back to parent club RB Leipzig, Hwang has joined on a permanent deal for a fee in the region of £15 million. The South Korean netted five goals and contributed an assist in 30 league games in 2021/22.
