The Premier League is back and so are Wolverhampton Wanderers, who take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday. Bruno Lage’s side were ultra-impressive throughout pre-season, as they won all four games, scoring 14 and conceding just one.

This will come as a welcome relief for Wolves fans who witnessed their team lose 11 of their final 17 Premier League games last season, finishing in a rather disappointing 10th place. Supporters will likely take inspiration from pre-season form and look ahead to a potentially brighter campaign.

Who better to take on the season opener than Leeds United, who only narrowly missed out on relegation last campaign? Here’s everything you need to know as Wolves hope to pick up all three points.

Is Leeds vs Wolves being shown on live TV?

Unfortunately, with kick off at 3pm on Saturday, this game comes under the traditional Saturday 3pm blackout, and so it won’t be available to watch on live television in the United Kingdom.

The ‘blackout’ is a scheme in place which stops all Premier League 3pm matches from being shown on television.

This is to try and encourage supporters to go and watch teams lower down in the football pyramid. Without it, many non-league and lower division sides wouldn’t sell enough tickets and would likely go out of business.

Not all is lost, though, as you can still watch the highlights of Leeds vs Wolves after the game on Match of the Day, which is aired on BBC One at 10.20pm on Saturday evening.

What is the team news ahead of Leeds vs Wolves?

Leeds United, just like much of last season, have quite the extensive injury list coming into this fixture.

Stuart Dallas (thigh), Junior Firpo (knee), Luke Ayling (knee), Adam Forshaw (knee) and Cody Drameh (thigh) are all ruled out, whereas central defender Liam Cooper (achilles) is a major doubt. New signing Luis Sinisterra has been sidelined with a thigh problem, and attacking counterpart Daniel James is suspended.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have fewer absences but are missing a number of key players ahead of their opening Premier League clash.

Raul Jimenez (knee) and Nelson Semedo (thigh), are both highly unlikely to play, whereas Chiquinho (knee), who is recovering from a recent surgical procedure, is ruled out. Rapid winger Adama Traore (knee) and centre-forward Hwang Hee-Chan are both 50/50 going into this one.

What are the predicted lineups for Leeds vs Wolves?

With it being the first Premier League game of the season for both sides, it’s rather hard to predict how they may lineup, and so this prediction is merely an opinion. But below is our best attempt at doing so. Be kind.

Leeds: Meslier (GK), Kristensen, Koch, Struijk, Llorente, Aronsen, Adams, Roca, Harrison, Rodrigo, Bamford.

Wolves: Sa (GK), Jonny, Dendoncker, Coady, Ait-Nouri, Moutinho, Neves, Gibbs-White, Neto, Podence, Hwang Hee-Chan.
