Performances this season

The 21-year-old right-winger, who stands 5ft 10in, has been recognised by the Portugal national set-up having made four appearances for the under 20 team before making his bow for the under 21s in November last year.

Background

Born in Cascais in the Lisbon district, Chiquinho spent almost a decade in the youth system at local side Sporting CP before signing permanently for neighbours Estoril in 2019 after loan spells at Estoril and Tondela.

It was in 2020 when Chiquinho really made his mark though when he began the year by making his Liga Portugal 2 (second tier) debut in January and then scoring his first goal as a professional the following month in a 4-1 victory over Casa Pia AC.

His rapid rise to prominence in Portuguese football continued last season when he played 13 matches in the 2020/21 campaign to help Estoril to the second division title.

After the dust had settled on the celebrations, Chiquinho set about impressing in the top flight and soon scored his first goal in a 2-1 home win over CS Maritimo.

Chiquinho, who scored a hat-trick for Estoril earlier this season, is a highly capable taker of set-pieces and his pace and direct style of play has drawn comparisons with former Portugal and Manchester United winger Nani.
