January transfer activity at Wolves has been limited to the low-key addition of Grasshoppers Zurich midfielder Hayao Kawabe.

The Japanese international joined the club last week and has immediately returned to the Swiss club on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

But with the second week of the transfer window now underway, speculation has been ramped up with several players linked with moves to and from Molineux.

The Times have suggested Spanish international winger Adama Traore is in talks over a £20m move to Tottenham Hotspur and has been made a “top target” for Antonio Conte.

Spurs face late competition from London rivals Chelsea as they bid to secure the former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa star.

Spanish outlet Sport also suggest Barcelona are considering taking their former youth product back to Spain.

Reports had suggested Wolves could bring Morgan Gibbs-White back from his impressive loan spell at Sheffield United if Traore is sold.

Speaking after the FA Cup third round win against the Blades, Wolves boss Bruno Lage, said: I’m very happy with him. Two days ago I talked with him, because he’s returning from injury.

“We made the best decision in September. He’s playing well in the position he started in here in September.

“Paul (Heckingbottom) is a great manager. I know him since his work in Barnsley so Morgan is in great hands. I am very happy with Morgan and Morgan knows that because he heard that from me.

“We have time for that decision. We are happy with our wingers. We have plenty of guys who can play there.

“We need to make the best decision for the club and the players.”

Should Traore complete a move away from the club, it has been speculated Lage could reinvest the money received in order to strengthen his defence.

Two players competing in France’s Ligue 1 have been mentioned as possible additions with Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car and Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile both linked with a move to Molyneux by Sky Sports.

Newcastle United are mentioned as possible rivals for both players.

South American-based outlet Medio Tempo suggest Wolves are also considering Mexico international defender Carlos Salcedo as a possible target.

There could also be a familiar face returning to the club with Independent writer Miguel Delaney stating it is “already anticipating” Matt Doherty will return to Wolves after an underwhelming spell at Tottenham.

Championship trio Sheffield United, QPR and Huddersfield Town have all been linked with a loan move for Wolves winger Ryan Giles.

TalkSPORT have speculated the three clubs will fight for his services after Giles saw a loan spell at Cardiff City come to an end.
