Former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa will head to Compton Park today to take part in a medical ahead of a proposed move to Wolves.

Yes, you read that right.

The 33-year-old who was most recently playing for Atletico Mineiro in Brazil, will sign a contract at Molineux until June 2023 if a medical is passed with no complications.

Costa will provide much needed squad depth for the gold and black who have just lost deadline day signing Sasa Kalajdzic to a potential season-ending ACL injury.

Here’s a snippet of what the Wolves faithful have had to say about Costa’s proposed transfer.

What Wolves fans have been saying

@pedalsingh “This is the weirdest time to be a @Wolves fan Striker finally signed for £15m Does his ACL in 45mins And bring in Diego Costa UTTER MADNESS”

@BC1877: “I know he’s past it and he’ll probably get more cards than goals but it really is a pinch me moment when Wolves are in a position to sign someone like Diego Costa”

@RDStarr1: “Not sure how I feel about this. I just hope we get a decent version of Costa. We certainly need that fire up front. Feels like a needs must sort of move, hopefully works out well.”

@molineuxmusings: “I don’t care if he doesn’t score a single goal for us, just please hold it up when it gets played in to you.”

@NewtonAndy: “For me, if he passes his medical, I’d take him in a heartbeat. Experienced player who know how to score goals. He also p*sses off the opposition, which isn’t a bad thing either!”

@AdamFellows11: “If he’s fit will do a job. World class striker in his prime. Absolute lunatic but I’d love to see him in action Smart business to cover until @Silva_Fabio & Sasa are back.”
