Wolverhampton Wanderers have now placed winger Daniel Podence on their transfer list and are actively looking for suitors ahead of deadline day, Birmingham World can reveal.

After being outcast by previous manager Julen Lopetegui, the 27-year-old had been in senior training under new head coach Gary O’Neil but has since returned to train with the under-21s again.

Wolves are hoping to recoup as much of the £17 million fee paid to Olympiacos in 2020 as possible but are aware that may not be possible with just 10 months left on Podence’s contract.

Wanderers are reluctant to allow any key players to depart before the end of the summer window – including Matheus Nunes – but Podence isn’t included in that mix.

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, who have been in talks with Wolves over a potential deal, will be on red alert after the winger was placed on the Old Gold’s transfer list.

Podence has made 105 appearances for Wolves, scoring 16 goals and contributing nine assists. Last season was his best with six Premier League goals in 32 games but the club still want to sell.

Meanwhile, experienced left-back Jonny Otto has also been put on the list. Wolves are hoping more cash can be raised by his sale with Hugo Bueno and Rayan Aït-Nouri preferred.
