The latest transfer news in the Premier League as Birmingham World unveils Wolves’ stance on Matheus Nunes after a bid from Manchester City.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reluctant to sell any more key players in this summer transfer window unless a mouthwatering offer they simply cannot refuse arrives, Birmingham World understands.

Gary O’Neil’s side have insisted star midfielder Matheus Nunes isn’t for sale amid strong interest from Manchester City. Wolves, unable to make significant signings, want to keep hold of their best players.

It’s feared that if Nunes and any other key men depart, O’Neil won’t have the squad at his disposal to be competitive enough in the Premier League. This is particularly the case with business going on elsewhere.

The Telegraph has reported Wanderers have already received a £47 million bid from Man City for Nunes and subsequently rejected it. Birmingham World is told this resilience will continue.

Nunes, signed from Sporting CP for a fee in the region of £38.5 million in 2022, has struggled from inconsistency at Molineux but is unplayable on his day. He can play in a variety of positions, making him a useful asset.

With one goal and one assist in 41 appearances for Wolves, the 24-year-old is hardly prolific, but it’s his indirect goal involvements that make an impact as he often drives forward when in possession of the ball.
