Former Wolves star returns to club in new role
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Matt Jarvis has returned to the club in a player mentor role, helping academy players progress from the youth ranks to their senior team.
This is according to a post on X (formerly Twitter) from Talking Wolves, who wrote: “Former Wolves player Matt Jarvis is now working at the club as a player mentor. The former winger will use his knowledge and experiences to help the next generation navigate from academy to first team football.”

Hide AdJarvis has been at Wolves since August, according to his official LinkedIn page. This is not his first non-playing role at a club - he has been a club ambassador at West Ham United for three years.
The 38 year old played for Wolves between the years of 2007 and 2012, make 164 league appearances and scoring 19 goals. In 2011, he won Wolves’ player of the year award.
He was best known for his electric pace and crossing accuracy - Jarvis was the archetypal classic winger. Outside of Wolves, he featured for clubs such as Gillingham, Norwich City and Woking. He announced his retirement from professional football at the end of the 2020/21 season.
Recently, Jarvis expressed his admiration for Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil, stating that he has exceeded his expectation as a manager [via I]: “If I’m completely honest, I wouldn’t have said manager in the making [when we played together], but what he did as a player, he was the ultimate professional in the way that he approached training, the way he approached games,” Jarvis adds.
