Liverpool vs Wolves injury news - as 7 players ruled out and 4 doubts

Following Matheus Cunha’s injury against Fulham last week, Wolverhampton Wanderers could now be missing five players for their Premier League fixture at Liverpool on Wednesday evening. There are a couple of aces that could soon return, though, as Wolves look to propel themselves away from the bottom three.
Julen Lopetegui was forced to take Cunha off at the hour mark during the trip to Fulham on Friday, as the Brazilian was the victim of a hefty challenge. It awaits to be seen whether or not he will be able to play at Anfield, but it seems unlikely given he was taken off on a stretcher only a few days ago.

Hide AdWolves’ head coach confirmed Cunha would undergo a scan over the weekend to find out the seriousness of the problem. “He is going to have an MRI and we will have to wait for a check,” Lopetegui said last week. If the former Atletico Madrid man does not play, there could be a place in the team for Pedro Neto.
Defensive Boubacar Traore is yet to feature under the new manager because of a groin injury and his spell on the sidelines will continue for the Liverpool clash. The Malian could make a return later in March, however. Meanwhile, energetic winger Hwang Hee-chan is likely to come back at a similar time after a hamstring issue.
Wanderers will definitely have to make do without two others – as attacking duo Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic are both still making their recoveries from long-term knee injuries. The former may be able to make an appearance or two before the end of the campaign but Kalajdzic is very much waiting for pre-season.
Liverpool injury updates
The Reds have been plagued with injuries this season and they remain so, with six players currently in the treatment room. Big-money striker signing Darwin Nuñez sustained a shoulder problem away at Newcastle United and then suffered another knock before Liverpool’s game at Crystal Palace. He remains a doubt.

Fellow centre back Joe Gomez has a similar injury but his return date is even further away – likely to be after the international break at the end of March/start of April.
Youngster Calvin Ramsay underwent surgery on a knee problem in mid-February, keeping him out until at least pre-season. Elsewhere, central midfielder Thiago Alcantara is sidelined with a hip issue until mid-March and winger Luis Diaz is making positive steps but still out with a knee injury.
Ruled out: Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Calvin Ramsay, Thiago Alcantara, Luis Diaz (LIV); Boubacar Traore, Hwang Hee-chan (WOL).
Doubts: Nuñez (LIV); Matheus Cunha, Chiquinho, Sasa Kalajdzic (WOL).
