Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolverhampton Wanderers but it didn’t come without some last minute drama.

According to John Percy of the Telegraph, Everton were pushing very hard to ‘hijack’ the deal right up until the last minute and even matched the fee put down by newly promoted Forest.

The money paid by Steve Cooper’s side could reach up to £42.5million including add-ons, though a chunk of those are said to be highly unlikely.

Forest’s initial fee is a guranteed £25million and that is the amount that the Toffees threw at it last minute on Thursday evening.

“Late drama on the Morgan Gibbs-White deal,” Percy wrote via Twitter.

“Everton were pushing very hard to hijack it last night and matched the £25m fee paid by Forest. Ultimately, MGW wanted to play for Steve Cooper again and deal with Forest too far down the line.”

With a year left on his deal at Molineux and Gibbs-White unlikely to sign a new contract, it’s a smart bit of business for both Wolves and Forest.

Everton, however, miss out on another target.

The Toffees take on Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park in a 3PM kick-off tomorrow.
