Former Everton manager wants Wolves job as Gary O'Neil remains on thin ice
David Moyes is reportedly eyeing the Wolverhampton Wanderers manager’s job.
Gary O’Neil remains under pressure at Molineux despite Wolves picking up their first win of the season at the weekend.
The 2-0 victory over fellow relegation candidates Southampton has bought O’Neil some time but Wanderers remain in the bottom three, two points behind Ipswich Town in 17th. Crucial games against Fulham, AFC Bournemouth, Everton, West Ham United, Ipswich and Leicester City await after the international break.
With this run of fixtures the easiest Wolves will face all season, it’s vital they have the right man in charge for this period. The board are reluctant to sack O’Neil as they believe he is one of the most promising English coaches, but they may be left with little choice if Wolves suffer more defeats in the coming weeks.
TalkSPORT reports Moyes is eyeing a return to the Premier League with Wolves a potential destination if the plug is pulled on O’Neil. Crystal Palace, Southampton and Leicester are said to be alternative options for Moyes due to their own managers feeling the pressure following difficult starts to the new campaign.

Moyes, who led Everton for 11 years between 2002 and 2013 before replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, has racked up 697 Premier League matches as a manager. The Scottish boss has been out of work following his exit from West Ham United, where he spent five years and won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2013.
With the November international break the last pause in English top-flight fixtures until March, clubs may be tempted to start afresh and hire the experienced Moyes in a bid to escape relegation. Only time will tell.
