Costa is a free agent having last played for Atletico Mineiro in his home country of Brazil and is able to be signed even though the transfer window has now closed.
The Premier League winner hasn’t played competitively since January and will be well behind the rest of the gold and black squad in terms of fitness.
He will be assessed on his current status and take part in a medical at Compton Park on Tuesday ahead of an incredible proposed move to the West Midlands.
Wolves have had to act quickly following the injury to summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic whom lasted only 45 minutes on his debut before suffering an ACL injury.

Costa will provide an experienced option for Lage and a more than capable back-up to Raul Jimenez whom is also not the most reliable when it comes to staying fit.
