A player left Wolves this week in a bid to get first-team football.

Dexter Lembikisa has a 'firm desire' to continue his development after he joined Yverdon Sport on a season-long loan deal from Wolves this week.

The 20-year-old will be playing in the Swiss Super League this season, and it provides a change from British football. His previous loans came at Rotherham United and Hearts in the EFL Championship and the Scottish Premiership, but now he's faced with the challenge of adapting to life in a different company, and playing a different style of football.

There is a hope within Wolves that this will be a loan that will be hugely beneficial for him. and that he can learn from the experiences of playing football abroad. Christian Marques who was previously at Wolves will provide a familiar face to Lembikisa, and could help settle him in to life quicker his new surroundings.

Speaking to the official club website, he said: “I arrive here at Yverdon Sport with the firm desire to continue my development, gain experience... and above all win.

“I love winning! On the field, I like one-on-ones, I like to face the opponent .”

Lembikisa trained with his new teammates on Tuesday, and is eligible for selection when Yverdon-Sport face Lausanne-Sport at the weekend. The right-back was still named by Steve McLaren in Jamaica’s squad for their fixtures last month, and so this move to a team in the top-flight of a European league will also help his international prospects.
