Bruno Lage praises Yerson Mosquera’s mental strength and gives update on Meritan Shabani & Bruno Jordao

Lage provided some more injury updates in Friday’s pre-match press conference

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage has praised the mental strength of young defender Yerson Mosquera following the news that he would miss 4-5 months of the season whilst also providing an update on the injured duo of Meritan Shabani & Bruno Jordao.

It was confirmed this past week that Mosquera would require surgery following his second hamstring injury in as many months but Lage said it’s not something that the centre-back is dwelling on.

Speaking in Friday’s press conference, the manager was quick to air his admiration for how the 20-year-old is dealing with his set-back.

“Yes (it’s tough for him) but every time he come with a big smile on his face,” he said.

“So this is the kind of guy when you work with him and you see what happened with him - he came from Columbia with a big dream and now with two injuries that put him out of the pitch and the training but he still comes with a big smile every day.

“We are here to support him and I think he’s a good guy.

“When you come with a strength to take this challenge and to be better day by day it is not an injury that will put you down so I can see that strength in him.”

Lage also gave a brief update on the injured pair of Shabani & Jordao.

The midfield duo have been out of action since March & January respectively but neither were included in the recent press release from the club.

When asked about possible return dates, Lage didn’t give any specifics but his response did at least sound a little promising.

“They are still working but with the physios. Not yet with us.

“They need some more time to prepare and then they will start training with the team.”
