Aston Villa 'deny' star man big opportunity as West Ham make £45m Wolves transfer decision

Euro 2024 may be taking a brief hiatus, with the last 16 due to begin tomorrow - but the summer transfer window is still ongoing, as clubs in the Premier League feverishly look to get deals over the line before the season commences. Let’s take a look at all the biggest rumours surrounding Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa today.
Previously, West Ham United had been linked with a move for a coveted Wolves defender. Despite this, they may be forced to ‘move on’, as they are unwilling to meet Wolves’ asking price.

West Ham United to ‘move on’ from prospect of signing Wolves’ Max Kilman
West Ham had been heavily linked with a move for Wolves captain Max Kilman - now, however, a recent report from The Guardian suggests that the Hammers will ‘move on’ to other targets.
Wolves have set an asking price of £45 million for Kilman’s signature and are unwilling to accept offers any lower than this figure. West Ham do not want to pay any more than £35 million for the player and therefore will look elsewhere. The Hammers had previously put forth a bid of £30 million plus add-ons for the former England Futsal player, but this was rejected.
Kilman has been at Wolves since 2018 - in the last couple of years, he has established himself as one of their most important players. Overall, he has made 127 Premier League appearances and has scored three goals during his stint at the Molineux Stadium. Wolves do not feel as though they are ‘under pressure’ to sell any of their key players in the ongoing window - due to this, it would be a surprise to see Kilman let go for anything less than their asking price.

Hide AdAston Villa ‘deny’ Emi Martinez opportunity to travel with Argentina to 2024 Olympics
Aston Villa have reportedly turned down superstar goalkeeper Emi Martinez’s request to represent his country at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as they will require him to be in pre-season training with the rest of the squad during this time.
This is according to a report from Argentinian outlet TyC Sports. The 2024/25 Premier League season is due to begin on Saturday, August 17 - just eight days after the conclusion of the football tournament at the Olympics.
Previously, Martinez had stated that it was ‘his dream’ to win a gold medal for Argentina at the Olympics. As such, being denied this opportunity by the Villans may come as a bitter blow for him.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Martinez has achieved great success on the international stage - reaching far greater heights than he ever has at club level. His crowning achievement came in 2022, when he won the World Cup - making some crucial saves in the final of the tournament against France, including one where he denied Kylian Mbappe while the scores were tied at 3-3.
