Wolves star's six-word message after FA Cup clash with West Brom confirmed

A Wolves player has reacted after his side progressed in the FA Cup - setting up a Black Country Derby against West Brom.

Wolves' on-loan Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle has reacted to the 3-2 win over Brentford in the FA Cup.

Nathan Collins opened the scoring against his former club but Nelson Semedo equalised and then after Neal Maupay had restored Brentford's lead academy product Nathan Fraser equalised. Matheus Cunha was presented the opportunity from 12-yards in the fifth minute of added on time in the first period of extra time and he kept his composure to score and Brentford could not issue a response.

Doyle - whose goal at the Gtech Community Stadium took the tie to a replay - played the entire 120 minutes at Molineux against the Bees. He could now have the opportunity to play in the Black Country Derby after the win against Brentford confirmed the clash against fierece rivals West Brom.

After the win, he posted on his Instagram story with a photo of himself in action with the caption: "Next round, bring on the derby.'

Match-winner Matheus Cunha echoed Doyle's thoughts and said: "A lot of fans said we needed to win, because it’s a big derby. "I’m very happy to play derbies, I’ve played Brazil vs Argentina, Real Madrid vs Atletico, and now I really want to play Wolves West Brom and make history.”

The date for the match has already been confirmed for Sunday, January 28 and will kick off at 11:45. The match will be shown on ITV1.

Wolves have been issued a 4,000 seat allocation for the tie and will be based in the Smethwick End. As per FA Cup rules, home teams have to give 15% of their stadium capacity to the visiting team.

The last match between the two sides was in May 2021 in which the two played to a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorn's with no spectators because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wolves' last win against them came in May 2011 when they won 3-1 courtesy of a brace from Steven Fletcher and an effort from Adlene Guedioura.
