Bundesliga side Wolfsburg rival Wolves in the race for the French striker, but can only offer a loan deal with no obligation or potential to buy. The 21-year-old has been frozen out of the first-team picture at the Parc des Princes, and it understood their hierarchy did not react well to him turning down a move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to Get French Football News, Ekitike is 'desperate' for a move this month, and because Wolves are interested in a permanent deal, they currently hold an advantage over Wolfsburg.

Ekitike scored 11 goals in 28 games for Stade Reims, and to date has 13 goals and eight assists in 52 games in Ligue One. Wolves are in the transfer market for a striker after allowing Fabio Silva to join Rangers whilst also shipping out Sasa Kalajdzic to Frankfurt.
Wolves are understood to be prioritising loan deals over any permanent transfers this month to avoid facing any Financial Fair Play charges. Gary O'Neil's men have been linked with a move to Danny Ings over the weekend.

The Molineux club opted to recall Cundle from his season-long deal at Home Park, and he is expected to join Championship rivals Stoke City on loan.
Discussions had been held over on Friday regarding Cundle's future, and he was given the go-ahead to play for the Pilgrims in the FA Cup. He featured in their win, however was recalled on Sunday and will seemingly reunite with Steven Schumacher at the bet365 Stadium.
"I think it's about economics, the way I was told by Wolverhampton Wanderers," said Dewsnip to Plymouth Live.

"I was assured at that moment in time there was no interest from anybody at all so it was safe to discuss selecting him, which we felt was the right thing to do.
"I thought he played really well, for what it's worth. So you have to take people by their word I guess and at that point in time maybe there wasn't anything going on."
