Wolves may have to brace themselves for some transfer disappointment as one of their reported transfer targets looks set for a move elsewhere.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano last week said that Wolves had asked about taking Fábio Carvalho on loan, however they weren't the only club interested. Several top six clubs in the Championship had asked for a loan, and the Reds had been tasked with making the decision as to which team would best suit Carvalho's development.

According to Sky Sports, Carvalho is set for a move to Hull City. Nothing is official however the transfer could accelerate at such a rate that he could make his debut for the Tigers on Friday night. Championship leaders Leicester City were said to have been 'very interested' whilst in-form Southampton were another, whilst Stuttgart and Sevilla had also been keen.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig but his play time was limited. Carvalho played 15 games in all competitions but was limited to just 360 minutes of pitch time, and made just three starts with the majority of his appearances coming from the bench.

David Ornstein said in a report on The Athletic that it came down to between Hull City and Southampton. The Saints have not yet given up, however positive talks were held with manager Liam Rosenior, and fellow loanee Tyler Morton, and a move to Humberside is expected. Carvalho favours a move to Hull, and it is anticipated that it should be finalised in the coming days.

In other news, Wolves are interested in signing Danny Ings on loan from West Ham according to The Telegraph. Gary O'Neil's side are set to be prioritising loan signings this month, and Ings is one of their key targets.

Wolves are focusing on loan moves this month, as they want to avoid any Financial Fair Play punishments with both Everton and Nottingham Forest both at risk of being hit with charges according to The Times. Fabio Silva has been loaned to Rangers whilst Sasa Kalajdzic has headed to Eintracht Frankfurt for the remainder of the campaign.

A striker is Wolves' primary position this window, and Ings is at the top of their list. The 31-year-old's £15m move to the Olympic Stadium has not worked out, and he has yet to score in 18 games in all competitions this season. He has been limited to just four starts this season and came off the bench against Bristol City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
