Steve Bull: John Ruddy’s return gives Wolves something they’ve been missing

Wolves legend Steve Bull gives his thoughts on the club’s recent goalkeeper moves, the latest wins, and more.

The more the merrier! Two goalkeepers are now through the door at Wolves and that department is looking very stable.

The more you can get in the side, the better it goes, and I think they’ll both be good assets for the club.

A huge welcome to Joao Virginia and welcome back to John Ruddy. If you’ve only got one goalkeeper, you start to worry. I’m happy we’ve got three now, so we’re getting a bit more stable in that area.

The only position I’d say we need to get more stable in is defence. We’ve got the makings of goals galore in our side, but I just think we’ve got to tighten up defensively.

I’d go for an experienced centre-half from the Championship who’s done it, got the T-shirt and knows what the Championship is about.

Ruddy is top drawer. He brings experience to the side and I think we need that. We’ve got a lot of youngsters and the squad needed a bit of experience.

Even if he doesn’t play, he’ll be a very good figure behind the scenes with the goalkeepers and the young lads coming through.

It looks like Jose Sa is staying now. He’s got to knuckle down and demand that number one spot.

It’s been a good week with two positive wins. Wolves did well at Preston North End - they went there and dominated. They could have scored more than three.

They dominated in the Sheffield Wednesday cup clash too. But we need to score goals earlier, kill teams off sooner rather than later and not put ourselves on a knife edge.

I thought young Saheed Olagunju did very well too. What a moment to see him score. I thought he put his stamp on the game.

Now Wolves have just got to make sure they don’t become complacent. Four points from six in the Championship isn’t a bad start.

I’m enjoying it so far - I’m seeing some exciting football, more goals and fewer going in at the other end.

I know we want to see the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal down here, but this is bread-and-butter football.

The players have got to roll their sleeves up and give it a good go. It’s been a long time since we’ve had Stoke down here, as well as Albion and Blues.

We’ve got to take advantage now and not be complacent. We’ve got to go out there, give 100 per cent and give the fans something to cheer about.
