West Brom top goalscorer starlet rewarded with Young Lions England call

The star Baggies prospect has started the season in stunning style.

Albion starlet Jimmy-Jay Morgan has been rewarded for a stunning start to life at The Hawthorns with an England youth call.

The 20-year-old frontman is expected to spearhead his side’s attack in his first Black Country derby at Molineux against Wolves on Sunday lunchtime.

New England under-20s boss Darren Moore, the ex-Baggies defender and boss, has included Morgan in his first Young Lions squad.

The former Chelsea prospect has wasted little time in getting to grips with the Championship and already has five goals this term. He became the first player with six goal involvements - goals or assists - in the top four divisions.

Morgan, who has two under-20 caps and has represented England since under-16s, has been drafted into Moore’s squad for three Euro Elite League fixtures across September and October.

The Young Lions head to Spain’s Costa Blanca next week where they will face Italy next Friday (10.30am kick-off), France on Tuesday week (September 29) and Germany in two Saturday’s time (October 3).

Morgan, a shrewd Baggies acquisition for £1.3million this summer, is looking for his first goals at England under-20s.

The striker is likely to partner colleague Aune Heggebo for boss James Morrison in Albion’s clash at Wolves on Sunday.

Villa midfield prospect George Hemmings has also earned a call to the England Young Lions squad under Moore.

Albion Republic of Ireland pair Max O’Leary and Jayson Molumby have also earned a call from their nation. They are part of a 26-man squad for upcoming Nations League clashes away to Kosovo and Israel and at home to Austria and Israel.

Attacker Tammer Bany has played just 10 minutes for Albion in the EFL Cup this season but has another international call for Jordan. He missed the World Cup in the summer through injury having won his first cap last year.

Albion have 11 players in total heading off to international duty for the extended three-week break.
