'They definitely do': Jayson Molumby sends message to West Brom fans after Blackburn draw

Albion were backed by a bumper crowd of 7,500 at Ewood Park on Monday - as they edged ever closer to survival in the Championship.

Albion could have sold even more tickets - with the one end of Ewood Park being taken over by a sea of blue and white striped shirts.

Unfortunately Albion couldn’t give them a complete day to remember - as it was all square between the two sides scrapping it out for survival.

But the fans appreciated the effort from the players - and captain Jayson Molumby had heartfelt message for the Baggies following after the game.

He admitted they’ve given the fans, home and away, very little to cheer about all season - but he insists they made the difference in Lancashire.

He said: “Obviously we've not given them a lot of joy this year, especially on the road. So, no, look, I just have to say thank you really for all of them because I know it's been tough for them and everyone in the club.

“It's been tough for us as players and staff, but it's been a really tough season. The turnout today helps massively. Listen, away from home in the Championship, they definitely give you an extra 10, 20 per cent.

“There's a lot of tired bodies at the moment. We haven't got a massive squad. There's a lot of lads having to keep on grinding out 90 minutes every couple of days, so it's really tough. Definitely, the backing like that, we're out of them today. Listen, it might be a different story, but they certainly give you an extra 10.”

Albion struggled to find a winner with Aune Heggebo coming close to settling the contest when his half volley was tipped onto the crossbar.

The Baggies had to soak up a lot of pressure in the second half and did so - without troubling Blackburn at the other end.

However, results went their way on Monday - and the gap to the bottom three remains at four points.

Molumby added: “That's massively important. Obviously, the results went our way. And, like I said, we need to try and do our best.

“Our focus is on winning games. But it definitely helps when others drop points around you as well. So, yeah, I'd be lying if I said we're not looking at the table after games because that's where we're at at the minute.

“So, no, we're pleased, obviously, but we just need to focus on ourselves. And I think that's what we have been doing.

“That's probably why we've been six unbeaten at the minute.

“We need to focus on us. And if teams around us or below us drop points, then that's a bonus for us.

“But we're definitely focused on ourselves and trying to get as much points as possible to get in the season.”
